Obituary for Ronald Alan Joslin

Ronald Alan Joslin of Coon Rapids, MN died at home on February 20, 2019 due to complications of Steven Johnson Syndrome/TENS. He was 58-years-young.

Ron was born in Fort Dodge, IA to Robert Arthur Joslin Sr and Faye Arloine Hanson on October 11, 1960. He attended the Clarion Community School in Clarion, IA and then moved up to Owatonna with his family graduating from Owatonna High School in 1979. Ron attended Simpson College in Indianola, IA receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. He also studied library and informational science at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He went on to attend Hamline University Law and Macalester College in St Paul.

He loved working with students and his colleagues in the library for more than 35 years at the Macalester College as Research & Instruction Librarian and Liaisian to the Science & Mathematics & Computer Science until the onset of his illness.

Ron was a gifted, good hearted and a thoughtful person and volunteered for many years at St. Joseph's Home for Children in addition to helping care for his mother.

Ron enjoyed traveling for work, pleasure and with his family, and was instrumental in planning yearly family vacations. He valued his time with his friends and family.

Ron is preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Joslin Sr., a Brother-in-law Greg A Johnson, his grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Ron is survived by his mother, Faye A. Joslin of Faribault, brothers Robert A. Joslin Jr. of Webster City, IA, Tim D. Joslin (Connie) of Tucson, AZ, sisters, Julie A. Miller (Paul) of Kellogg, MN, Brenda L. Volkman (Curt) of Owatonna, MN and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A celebration of Ron's life with family and friends will be held at the Macalester College Chapel, 1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul MN on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11am.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter, St. Joseph’s Home for Children of Catholic Charities St. Paul Minneapolis, or the Macalester Fund of Macalester College.

Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
