A Checklist Of Things To Do After The Funeral

1. ★ Obtain certified copies of the death certificate, which are required for a variety of legal and
   

financial forms.

1. ★ Send thank you notes for those who sent flowers and donations or showed a special     
   

kindness.

1. ★ Meet with the deceased's attorney to discuss the necessary legal processes.
   

1. ★ Notify the insurance companies and file all claims.
   

1. ★Apply for the appropriate social security benefits, veteran’s benefits and/or pension benefits. We will            assist you with these items, if desired.
   

1. ★ Notify your accountant or tax preparer.
   

1. ★ Notify the deceased's stockbroker.
   

1. ★ Notify the deceased's bank.
   

1. ★ Notify the Department of Motor Vehicles to transfer titles on all vehicles, mobile home and boats registered in the deceased's name.
   

1. ★ Notify the credit card companies of the death.
   

1. ★ Contact the deceased’s employer and/or union.
   

1. ★ Contact any organizations with which the deceased had a membership or subscription.
