Joan

   Joan (Mrs. Richard) Zunker, age 76, of Faribault, passed away in her sleep at home following a short illness on March 17, 2008.
   Funeral services will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Richard L. Jorgensen officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault at a later date.
   Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
   She was a small but strong-willed and tenacious lady who lived a life of loyalty and dedication to her family, her husband and her work. She was loved as a mother, a sister, a sister-in-law, an aunt, a grandmother and a wife. Joan was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on April 27, 1931 to Robert and Sigrid Loughan. She graduated from LaCrosse Logan High School in 1949. On February 5, 1952 she married Richard Zunker in LaCrosse. The couple and their four children moved to Faribault, Minnesota in 1968. Joan will be remembered lovingly by her family, for her selfless work at Faribault State Hospital, Rice County Day Activity Center and for her many friendships in the Faribault community.
   She is survived by her spouse, Richard of Faribault; four children, David (and Elizabeth) Zunker of Columbia. S.C., Diane (and David) Ross of Knoxville, TN, Debra (and David) McCloskey of Cascade, CO, and Daniel (and Kimberly) Zunker of Eden Prairie; seven grandchildren, Emma, Rebecca, Allison, Shainah, Kyle, Ryan and Alex; and a sister, Dorothy (and Richard) Poellinger of Onalaska, WI.
   She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dear Dick and Family It has been so many years since we all crossed the pathes in our lives. It seems so long ago at times and then again just yesterday. We have watched each others children grow up, marry, have their own families and begin their journey moving toward the "Golden Years". We were, and are, truly blessed to have shared the time we have been granted together as friends. As you attempt to find your way through this most tragic time in your lives always reflect on the positive times and years. A loved one, a Wife, a Mother, a Grandmother and a friend has given each of you and all of us so many positive and pleasant things to reflect on and remember. Grief is not what she would have wanted any of us to carry forward past these few trying days while we say good bye to the body and yet know we will always retain the spirit of our loved one within us in our hearts and our minds. She goes before us to join all the others waiting in paradise and she will prepare a place for each of us when our LORD calls us home to join him in paradise. Please accept my sympathies with the loss of Joan. I remember many times being in the Zunker home before they moved away. Joan always had a wonderful sense of humor and great smile. She made everyone feel welcome. She and the family are in thoughts and prayers.
