  Marnie Whillock­Becker, age 44, of Faribault, died on Monday, July 2, 2007
surrounded by her family at St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.
   Memorial services will be held at First English Lutheran Church,
Faribault, on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Richard L.
Jorgensen and the Reverend Michael Mandsager officiating.  Private interment
will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.  A gathering celebrating
Marnie¹s life will be held at the Rice County Fair Grounds following the
service at the church.
   A memorial visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to
the services on Friday.
   Marnie Beth, the daughter of Ivan and Mary (Landro) Whillock, was born
on October 17, 1962 in Faribault.  She graduated from Faribault High School
in 1981 and attended South Central College, Faribault.  She was currently
editor of "Carving Magazine".  She has enjoyed being involved in the wood
carving business as an individual and with her family.  She owned and
operated Marnie Whillock Associates mail ordering business for woodcarving.
She was responsible for the Whillock Wood Carving School and Catalog.  She
was also founding member of Carv-Fest.  Marnie was a co-owner of Whillock
Visions Floral Design.  She was a founding member of Tree Frog Music
Festival and served as co-chair of the event for all 11 years.  She served
at past co-chair of the District One Hospital Auxiliary and was active in
the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce. She served as Co-Honorary Chair with
Chris and Mary Whillock at the Relay for Life Straight River Stroll in 2005
and in May of 2006, Marnie received the Outstanding Alumni award of South
Central College, Faribault Campus.
   She is survived by two sons, Ryan and Cory Becker, both of Faribault;
her parents, Ivan and Mary Whillock of Faribault; three brothers, Rand (and
Beth) Whillock of North Oaks, Mark (and Jane) Whillock of Ellendale, Chris
(and Dena) Whillock of Faribault; four nieces, Amy, Sarah, Emily and
Kennedy; and two nephews Josh, Colby.

Joan Pacey from Canada. I met Marnie at a confence in Canada a couple of years ago. We became great friends and emailed and talked on the phone monthly. Marnie loved jokes , people, lots of fun and was an inspiration to every one who was around. She was a very possitive up beat person who never complained and just kept on going with a big smile. Marnie we have all learned so much from you , such a beautiful kind caring person and will always be in my prayers and memories every day. God be with you

We have met and worked with Marnie on several occasions and found her to be a wonderfully talented professional. She had such a bubbly personality and would always go out of her way to help others. Her love of the woodcarving industry has really helped the industry to grow. She was an incredible editor of Carving Magazine. And, she was a terrific friend. I have been living in Lakeville for the past eight years, but I still get the Faribault Daily News. That is where I learned about Marnie's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Marnie when she was co-chair of the District One Hospital Auxiliary. I loved her positive, upbeat attitude and her wonderful ideas. I cannot imagine a more loving and wonderful sister, daughter, mother, spouse than Marnie. It was a privilege to know her and admire her many talents in business, editing, carving, and supporting all her friends and family in so many ways. I never had the opportunity to meet Marnie - however, she went out of her way to personally email me and send me a free copy of the Winter 2006 issue of Carving Magazine when I posted on the Carving Mag forum asking where I could find it. I had been frustrated after repeated trips to my local Barnes & Noble to get it. I couldn't believe that the Editor of the magazine went out of her way to make sure that I got. I subscribed immediately after her email. Such a thoughtful and caring person to go out of her way like that. She won my devotion and I only wish I had gotten the opportunity to attend a Carve Fest and meet her in person. She will be sorely missed. Marnie came out to Oklahoma and photographed an article we did for Carving Magazine and we had a very good time with her. We laughed alot and enjoyed each others company.
