Dorothy V.
Parmelee, age 90, of Faribault, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the
District One Hospital, Faribault.
MemoriesI have never used this method of communicating with families before, but because I really don't know any of you personally and don't know your addresses, I'm going to try it. My Mom, Jane Sears, was so fond of your mom, Dorothy. I know I heard Dorothy's name hundreds of times as I grew up and for years after. They were great friends and certainly an important part of the Cathedral's folklore!! A specific story I will remember for years to come is when "Father Winkler" first came to town. The use of the term "father" was enough to irritate the old girls and my mom was the first to let me know!!! But the best part was when the ladies found out he had ordered a paper shredder for the church. WOW, did that get to them!! I specifically remember Mom calling me and telling me that she, Dorothy, and Isabel certainly could NOT understand why a minister would want or need a paper shredder. I really miss Mom and all of the stories she would tell me. Near the end, while she could still converse, I wondered if I would really miss the stories, as it seemed that it became one or two stories told over and over again!!! But I do still miss even the repeated ones. They had a true friendship and I could not let your mom pass without sharing my thoughts with you. They are up in heaven now, I'm pretty sure they are in the Episcopalian side (haha), but I know they're laughing about something. Please know that I am thinking about you and praying for you. The only good thing is that I now feel like she is always with me and watching out for me. It is a comforting feeling after being through the end years with her. May God bless you and your families.
MemoriesWe are saddened with Dorothy's passing and wanted to let you know how much we appreciated her friendship with our mother over the years. She was a great lady and she will be missed by us all. |
