Zorene

Zorene Sautner of Faribault, died on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home, Faribault. 

         Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the First English Lutheran Church, Faribault, with the Reverend Michael Mandsager officiating. Interment will be held in the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
         Visitation will be held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and also in the church for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
         Edna Zorene, the daughter of Earl David and Mary Edna (Campbell) Brown was born on August 9, 1918 in Slater, Missouri.  She attended Park College in Missouri and later worked in factories in California to support the WW II effort.  She married Wilbert “Rusty” Henke and was later divorced.  They owned and operated Nerstrand Café and later she was employed by Nutting Truck and Caster Company in Faribault.  She married Carl “Chuck” Sautner on December 17, 1977 in Faribault, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1999.
         She is survived by five children, Mary (and Clyde) Heggedahl of Nerstrand, Terry (and Diana) Henke of Lakeville, Dorothy Pearl of Faribault, Rebecca (and Danny) Carlson of Faribault and Ava (and Patrick) Shields of Sauk Centre; four step children, Elizabeth (and Tom) Bohmer, John (and Barbara) Sautner, Carla Jo (and John) Fisher and Patricia (and Gerald) Valen; 12 grandchildren, Valerie Kuchinka, Jeffrey Heggedahl, Cameron Henke, Vincent Henke, Bret Weaver, Chad Weaver, Amy Lindsay, Jennifer Sanders, Aaron Carlson, Rachel Carlson, Casey Shields and Terry Shields; eight great grandchildren, Mitchell, Josie and Brady Kuchinka, Megan and Austin Lindsay and Alyssa, Madeline and Sophie Sanders; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
         She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Brown, Jr. and two sisters, Cordia Bodensteiner and Harriet Senge.

Your family are in our thoughts and prayers. You family was so kind to my brother Donnie when he was sick. I know he thought about you as not just friend but also family. You mom is now in heaven with both Dick and Donnie.

Memories

We met Zorene through my maternal grandmother and great aunt (twins!) when my Mom would take us up to see them in Faribault, starting in the 1950s. We have remained in touch all these years, and the last several years Mom and I have joined Zorene and her daughters and some of her granddaughters and great granddaughters for Mothers Day Weekend in a variety of places. We also were honored to attend Zorene's 90th Birthday Bash last summer! I never saw her without a smile on her face, a hug and a kiss for us. She had great strength of character, as well as a great enjoyment of life that she loved to share. We are so glad we could be a part of that, and were able to know and love her wonderful family. Memories

Zorene was the greatest neighbor to us! She and Chuck watched and took our daughter to preschool on Fridays when she was four and treated her like their own, fussing over her and thrilled they were asked. Laura still recalls how they she fooled them into thinking she hadn't had breakfast so they would make her some! She always had a smile and a story to tell, which we loved. We visited her a couple times since she moved and sent her Christmas cards updating her of the girls. I remember the stories she told when she was young, she was quite a girl! We extend our greatest sympathies for your loss because you cannot replace a Zorene. She was one heckuva a lady!
