RICHARD N. LUIKEN
Richard
Richard N. Luiken, age 90, of Faribault,
died on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at the First
Baptist Church, Faribault on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. with the
Reverend Daniel D. Mead, officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Ridge
Memorial Park, Faribault with veteran’s military rites provided by the
Central Veterans Association, Faribault.
Visitation will be in the Boldt Funeral
Home, Faribault on Tuesday, August 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. and also in the
church for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Richard Nick, the son of Nick and Susan
(Garret) Luiken was born on May 13, 1919 in Claremont. He attended school
in Lake Crystal and served in the U. S. Army during W. W. II in the
Pacific Theater and he was awarded three Bronze Stars. On December 5,
1945 he married Marguerite Elizabeth Olson in St. James. He farmed in the
St. James and Faribault area most of his life and later was employed by
Merrill’s Faribault Bus Transportation and enjoyed mowing grass at the
Dahle Sod Farms of rural Morristown.
Richard is survived by his wife,
Marguerite; five children, Karl (and Nancy) Luiken of Savage, Jerry (and
Suzanne) Luiken of Faribault, Brad (and Maureen) Luiken of Faribault,
Julie (and Dennis) Brunner of Edmond, OK and Shari (and Robert) Flowers of
Lawton, OK; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert
(and Kathleen) Luiken of Lake Crystal.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
eight sisters and three brothers.
