Beverly "Bev" (Mrs. Larry) Ray, of Faribault, died on Sunday, October
28, 2007 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis.
Services will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Faribault, on
Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Allan Nelson
officiating. Interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery,
Minneapolis.
Visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on
Wednesday, October 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. and also in the church for one hour
prior to the services on Thursday.
Beverly Janet, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Rabe) Gross was born on
July 24, 1932 in Bridgewater, South Dakota. She was confirmed at Zion
Lutheran Church in Bridgewater on March 30, 1947. She was homecoming queen
and graduated from Bridgewater High School. She continued her education at
Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota with degrees in teaching,
social work and business. She married Laurence "Larry" Ray on June 10, 1962
in Calvary Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. She taught elementary school in
Minnesota, California and South Dakota for 11 years. She played the piano
and accompanied many groups, individuals and organizations. She also played
the organ. Bev was considered organized, warm, honest, dependable,
friendly, caring, sympathetic, concerned, empathetic, hard working and kind,
and she loved people.
Bev helped and supported many community organizations, including the
food shelf and Red Cross Blood Mobile. She volunteered her time and talents
at Our Savior's Lutheran Church helping with the Sunday School, with the
Rainbow Bazaar, altar guild, the church office and worship committee.
Bev loved her family and was very concerned about others and their life
experiences. She loved playing with her grandchildren and music, especially
the trips to Branson for the musical shows.
She is survived by her husband, Larry of Faribault; one daughter,
Becky (and Paul) Holm of Dassel; two grandchildren, Anna and Andrew Holm;
three siblings, Keith (and Betty) Gross of Tacoma, WA, George (and Jean)
Gross of Winona and Sheryl (and John) Tieszen of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces;
nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
