     Kathryn Ann Anhalt, age 60, of Faribault and formerly of Rosemount, Apple Valley and Burnsville, died on Thursday, August 20, 2009, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.
 

     Funeral services will be on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault with the Reverend Tomm Byrtus, officiating. Interment will be in the Red Rose Cemetery, Waterford.    

      Visitation will be on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault and also on Monday for one hour prior to the services.
 

     Kathryn Ann, the daughter of Paul G. and Kathryn M. (Karow) Turner, was born February 28, 1949 in Faribault. She graduated with the class of 1967 from Faribault Senior High School. She attended Anchor Hospital School of Nursing and obtained her Registered Nurse degree. Kathryn owned CDA Associates and was a nursing home consultant. Later she was employed by Cannon Falls Medical Center. She enjoyed spending time traveling to the mountains and beaches with her son. She also enjoyed reading, her dog, Dixie, and being with family and friends.
 

     She is survived by a son, Corey D. Anhalt of Good Thunder; her parents, Paul and Kathyrn Turner of Faribault and two sisters, Dianne (and Jerry) Barta and LaVonne Leibeg all of Medford; nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.
    

     She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey P. Anhalt, and nephew, Matthew A. Barta.

Memories

My apologies for not sending a handwritten note; I didn't have an address. I work with the Mayo Clinic Health Policy Center, and had the great pleasure of working with Kathy while arranging the interview with Time Magazine. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed my brief acquaintence with Kathy -- she was a gracious, charming, immensely smart woman. In our short interview, and subsequent phone visits, I learned so much from Kathy -- she had a generous outlook on life. Kathy was so proud of her son, and so thankful to see him doing well in his life. She spoke about how grateful she was to be close to her family. I sent Michael Grunwald, the Time Magazine reporter, a note to let him know that Kathy had passed. He asked me to extend his condolences along with mine. He is still hoping to write an article more focused on end-of-life care, and to be able to share much of what Kathy told him in the interview. I'm so pleased to have had the opportunity to know Kathy -- even for a short time. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Jane Jacobs
