    Carl Oscar Nygaard, age 75, of Faribault, died on Saturday, June 7, 2008, in the St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.
      Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst, chaplain of Faribault Area Hospice, officiating. Interment and veteran’s military rites will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
      A memorial visitation will be held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault for one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
      Carl Oscar, the son of Hans and Olga (Flaten) Nygaard was born on May 12, 1933 in Karlstad. He entered the U. S. Army in 1953. Carl married Phyllis Simanovski in April of 1965 and later they were divorced. He was formerly employed by the missile base in North Dakota, Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, Ryt-Way of Northfield, and Mercury Minnesota, McQuays and Faribault Foods all of Faribault. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 1460, Faribault.
      He is survived by his three children, Penny (and Aaron) Farnsworth of Faribault; Steven Nygaard of Faribault and Amy Nygaard of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, Aleah Farnsworth, Aaron, Madison, Kaiden, Matthew, Jessica, Jasmine and Alexis Nygaard; and the mother of his children, Phyllis Brauneis of Bemidji.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joseph Nygaard.
