         Ethel L. (Mrs. Charles E.) Kay, age 81 of Faribault died Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Faribault.
         Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, Faribault on Tuesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Robert L. Mundahl officiating.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Rockford, IL.   Visitation will be at church for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
         Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
         Ethel Louise, the daughter of Charles and Edna Head, was born October 12, 1927 in Leavenworth, Kansas.  She was baptized in March of 1935 and confirmed in 1953. On August 10, 1945, she married Charles E. Kay, and he preceded her in death.   Ethel was educated in Kansas and Illinois schools with summer classes at Concordia Teacher College, Seward, NE and Concordia College, Ft. Wayne, IN.  She operated a day care center in Jacksonville, IL; was employed by Central Illinois District-Lutheran Church Mo. Synod and was a certified teacher of religion to Developmentally Disabled and Deaf for 20 years.  Ethel retired in 1993 and moved to MN. Ethel was involved with Peace and Trinity Lutheran Churches, many Faribault Senior Citizen activities and events as well as grandparent volunteer at Jefferson Elementary School.
         She is survived by a son, Charles of Buena Vista, CO, a daughter, Linda (and Mark) Johnson of Morristown; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Head of Leavenworth, KS and a sister, Nancy Sechrest of Peculiar, MO
         She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles; step daughter, Katheran and two brothers.
         The family prefers that any memorials be directed to Peace Lutheran Church, Faribault or to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for the Deaf, Arden Hills.

Memories

We were saddened to read about Ethel's death. We think very highly of her and miss her. We got to know Ethel while at Christ Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Jacksonville, Illinois, during seminary days. We also got to know her daughter, Linda, who was a student at Illinois School for the Deaf. Ethel took over Becky's position with the Central Illinois District when I graduated from seminary in 1975 and we moved to California. Her 20 years of faithful service say a great deal about Ethel's enthusiastic love for the Lord and HIS people (the church). While we are saddened and grieve...we also rejoice because we know her Lord Jesus Christ has kept HIS promise to Ethel. She is with her Lord and filled with the joy of being in HIS presence. Memories

I will remember Ethel and a Sister in Christ at Peace Lutheran. She was also a very very good friend of my Aunt, Ruth Siebert. They both lived at Golden Meadows. She always had a smile on her face and was Soooo good to my Aunt. She will be sadly missed by many people. We are presently in TX so I'm unable to attend her funeral but you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Marie and Jim Smith

Memories

A wonderful lady who served her Savior for many years. The church on earth has experienced a great loss. The church in heaven is much richer. My prayers are with the dear family, especially Mark & Linda and the other little "bears" in the Johnson home. She'll be missed by many as we await our reunion in heaven.
