To Mrs. Goertzen's family: I have many great memories of your mother. She was certainly my favorite teacher when I was a ninth grader in 1968-69. I always enjoyed my Home Ec class with her, especially the sewing unit, and my sewing skills today were the ones I learned from your mother, my mother knew how to sew, but never had the patience to pass that talent along to me. So, thank you for sharing part of your mom with me. This has been a sad time for my family also as my sister, Alta, is at this same time on the Boldt Memory Pages. You have my sympathy. Annette (Pofahl) Emory, Lakeville, MN FSHS Class of 1972.
I was sorry to hear of your Mom's passing...she was a great lady and I have many fond memories of her as a teacher and as a parent of a friend. Having recently lost my mom, I share in your loss. May God's grace give you comfort at this time.
Jim and Deb: Our sympathies to you at this time of loss. I taught across the hall from Ellen for many years, even substituting for her on occasion during free periods and so forth. We always had fun discussions and conversations, a lot of good times throughout the years. Dean always enjoyed visiting with Ellen about you, Jim, and your basketball days as well as other sports events. She will be missed by many but celebrated for what she added to our lives. Prayers, Dean & Karen Jaeger, Chandler, AZ
Jim and Deb and family, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a great person. I was fortunate enough to have her as my Home Ec. teacher back in the "old days". I also enjoyed talking to her in the recent years about school issues and I appreciated her thoughts and guidance. I am sorry that I won't be able to be at her service but please know that I am sending you my thoughts and prayers your way.
With sympathy to you, Deb and Jim, on the loss of your Mother. She was helpful to many and will be missed. With sympathy, Vivian
Mrs. Goertzen was my 9th grade Home-Ec teacher back a few years(!) ago...Ellen continued to be my friend. We would visit and "catch-up" when she stopped for her danish and coffee at Dusek's, where I worked. I was saddened to learn of her passing...my thoughts and sympathy go out to Ellen's family and friends...she will be greatly missed. Jeanne
Deb and Jim & family, I wish Jim and I were there to be with you to celebrate your mothers life. She was such a fun lady, she always had nothing but great things to say about the two of you. She kept us updated on everything you were doing since we were in town and you were both far away. Glad we were part of all of your lives. Thinking about you in our thoughts and prayers.
