Grandma Vi was just like any great grandma to me. Some might say she was my "step-grandma" but I really knew no difference. We all loved her like a grandmother she loved us just like her very own grandchildren. My wife even embraced her as a her surrogate grandmother since she never really has had a strong relationship with any of her grandparents. Grandpa Dettmer, you married a wonderful woman in Grandma Vi. Our Lord saw it fit to give you someone who you could love and serve and who could love you back just as much (and put up with you antics). We are fortunate and thankful to have been able to visit just a couple months ago to see you both together and her healthy. We thank God that He allowed us have Grandma Vi in our family for 22 years. We love you Grandma.
We are sorry to hear of your loss, you are all in our thoughts at this very sad time.
Gordy, we were so sorry to read that Vi had passed away. It was only a month ago that she told me how much she was going to miss us when we moved. Vi was a very sweet lady.
Vi always held a special place in my heart. I considered her my son Matt's adopted grandmother, right along with Gordon as his adopted grandfather. Since I live far away in Alaska, I didn't get to see Vi as often as I would have liked but always looked forward to our few times together when they happened. I regret that I didn't make the time this last Christmas when I was in Minnesota visiting. My parents, Jeanne and Al Wendt also send their fond remembrances of the fun times they had with Vi and Gordon in Faribault and Forest Lake thoughout the years. We all loved her and will miss her very much. Bev Vadner, Wasilla, Alaska
We have many fond memories of "Grandma Vi" as our children called Vi. She was a great lady and we always enjoyed visiting with her. We will miss you. Bob & Colleen
