Violet C.
(Mrs. Gordon) Dettmer, age 85, of Faribault died on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at
Rochester Methodist Hospital.
Services will be at St. Luke’s Church, Faribault on Wednesday,
March 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Randy Hardy officiating.
Interment will be in Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Tuesday
from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church for one hour prior to the service on
Wednesday.
Violet C., the daughter of Reinhold and Minnie (Saathoff) Schultz
was born on April 18, 1922 in Faribault. She married William Juvland
Thompson, they divorced and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1988. On
September 15, 1984, she married Gordon F. Dettmer in Faribault. She was
formerly employed by Farmer Seed & Nursery, Faribault Foods, Control Data
and Faribault Senior High School, all in Faribault and was very active in
her church.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon, of Faribault; five
children, Rose Marie (and Dennis) Buendorf of Faribault, William Thompson of
Nerstrand, Randy (and Mary Kay) Thompson of Faribault, Jim (and Annette)
Thompson of Owatonna and Larry (and Tammy) Thompson of Faribault; 14
grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; five
step children, Dennis (and Carol) Dettmer of Long Lake, WA, Vana (and Martyn)
Schmidt of Baxter, Robert (and Colleen) Dettmer of Forest Lake, Lee (and
Shirley) Dettmer of Princeton and Scott (and Jane) Dettmer of Lakeville; 14
step-grandchildren and many step great grandchildren; a sister, Florence
Spicer of Faribault and a brother, LeRoy “Lee” R. Schultz of Boulder City,
Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband,
William; a brother, George Schultz, and two sisters, Lilly Wadekamper and
Rosella Ives.
