Olinda T. “Tudy” (Mrs. Arthur)
Degen, age 90 of Faribault died on Monday, November 17, 2008 at St. Lucas
Care Center, Faribault.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Faribault on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10 a.m. with the
Reverend Steven J. Kuehne officiating. Interment will be in Maple Lawn
Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home,
Faribault on Friday, November 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. and also at church for one
hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Olinda Theresa Meinke was born July 8, 1918 in Webster
Township, Rice County to William H. and Paulina (Sprain) Meinke. She married
Arthur Degen on November 19, 1940 in Webster and he preceded her in death on
June 6, 1982. She loved playing euchre and cribbage and cooking for other
people’s pleasure.
She is survived by her two children, David (and
Suzanne) Degen of Faribault and Bruce (and Charlotte) Degen of Champlin; six
grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and one brother, Walbert Meinke of
Webster.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Arthur; two brothers, Edgar Sr. and Waldemar Meinke and one sister, Natalia
Bosshardt.

Memories
Tudy was a great woman, who I will never forget. She was one of the people in my life, who probably had no idea how she touched my life. I would visit her farm at times growing up with the Dave and Sue Degen family and I never met a woman who worked so hard with remarkable ethics and values. I recall respecting Tudy because she earned it and also recall being introduced to discipline if I didn't make good choices.
