   Joseph R. Cervenka, age 76, of Springfield, TN and formerly of Faribault
and Montgomery died on Sunday, August 12, 2007 in Tennessee.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic
Church, Montgomery on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10 a.m.  Interment will
be held in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be held in the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Friday
from 4 to 7 p.m. and also a memorial visitation in the church for one hour
prior to the services on Saturday.
   Joseph Richard, the son of Joseph F. and Mary E. (Sirek) Cervenka was
born on September 20, 1930 in Erin Township, Rice County.  He graduated from
Montgomery High School in 1948.  He served in the U. S. Army.  He was
formerly employed by McQuay's and the United States Postal Service both in
Faribault.  He owned and operated Togo Joe's in Togo, MN prior to moving to
Springfield, TN.  He was an avid sportsman.
   He is survived by his long time companion, Elizabeth Mathis of
Springfield, TN; son, Mark (and Bonnie) Cervenka of Faribault; one sister,
Mary Lou (and Elgin) Kaderlik of Elysian; one grandson, Derek Cervenka;
three granddaughters, Connie (and Mike) Ellard, Katie (and Pat) Nelson and
Casey Hinderscheid, two great grandsons, Austin Ellard and Drew Nelson; one
son in law, Florian Hinderscheid of Montgomery; Elizabeth's daughter, Vicki
Abernathy; Elizabeth's granddaughters, Andrea Beth Abernathy and JoEllen
Abernathy all of Nashville, TN; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Bernice
(Ahlman) Cervenka; and his daughter, Linda Hinderscheid.

Memories

Joe was at a party at St. Patrick Store when my brother Bob Cervenka and his wife Shirley had a family party. I don't remember what the occasion was but Cervenka's (and Shirley's family the Freidges bunch never needed a reason to party), anyway, somewhere I have a VCR tape of Joe playing his guitar and singing some of his old favorites like "That shirt my mother made for me". One of my projects now that I'm retired is to copy all my VCR tapes to DVD's. When I come across the video of Joe playing his guitar I know it will bring back the memories of the way I will always remember him.

Memories

When calling other cousins to let them know cousin Joe had passed away, several of them heard the news and said "Another Legend is Gone" and that is true, Joe was a legend for his great style, humor, guitar and accordian playing and singing, and just being an all around special guy. They don't make them like that anymore and we will miss him. My sympathies to his son & duaghter in law and grandchildren, and Elizabeth.
