Robert C.
“Bob” Bliss, age 87, of Faribault, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the
St. Lucas Care Center, Faribault.
Private services will be held for the family.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home,
Faribault on Sunday, January 6, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Robert Charlson Bliss, the son of Fredrick and Bertha (Charlson)
Bliss was born on July 17, 1920 in Buffalo Center, IA. He graduated from
Lake Mills High School, Lake Mills, IA and also the University of Minnesota.
He served in the R. O T. C. program and also U. S. Navy during W. W. II. He
married Avis Helen Elmquist on September 3, 1942 in Willmar. R. C. owned and
operated R. C. Bliss Ford of Faribault for 47 years. He served on the Board
of Directors and as President of the Minnesota Auto Dealers Association. Bob
also served on the National and Minnesota Board of Directors for the Quarter
Horse Association and he served as President of the Minnesota Association.
Bob’s family expresses deep appreciation to the Faribault Area
Hospice for their assistance in his care.
He is survived by his wife, Avis; four children, Robert D. Bliss of
Mankato; Richard (and Gail) Bliss of Excelsior, Jan Harrison of Maple Grove
and Jeffrey (and Paula) Bliss of Faribault; seven grandchildren, Katie,
Rachel, Anne, Garrett, Haily, Braden Bliss and Nicole (and Dan) McDonald;
one great granddaughter, Aubrey McDonald; three siblings, Lois (and Chuck)
Brodine of Bethesda, MA, David (and Carole) Bliss of Independence, MO and
Helen (and David) Appleby of Columbus, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald
Bliss.
