Thomas P.
Sloan, age 88, of Faribault, died on Monday, June 1, 2009 at District One
Hospital, Faribault.
Funeral
services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at First
English Lutheran Church, Faribault, with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst and
the Reverend Richard Jorgensen, officiating. Entombment will be at Meadow
Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault, with veteran’s military rites provided by
Central Veterans Association.
Visitation
will be at the Boldt Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 3rd from 4
to 6 p.m. and also at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the
service.
Thomas Pratt
Sloan, the son of Charles and Gertrude (Pratt) Sloan, was born on March
16, 1921 in Ellendale. He graduated from Ellendale High School and served
in the Army Air Corps and the Military Police. He married Alvina M.
Clausen on November 21, 1948 at Danish Lutheran Church, Alden. She
preceded him in death on November 17, 1995. Tom was employed by Northern
States Power for over 30 years and also worked for the Steele County
Sheriff’s Department.
He is
survived by a daughter, Tovah Sellner (and Herman Froehle); one
granddaughter, Erin Sellner (and Daniel Honken); one great granddaughter,
Mallory Ward, all of Faribault; one brother, John (and Dorothy) Sloan of
Williston, ND; and one sister in law, Rita Sloan of Mankato.
He was
preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alvina; one brother, William
Sloan; and a son in law, Bruce Sellner.
Memorials may
be given to River Bend Nature Center.

Tovah, Dale said that he spoke with you on his way to the pop machine at the hospital Monday morning and that your Dad was just brought in, and not doing well. We are so terribly sorry to hear that he did not make it. We pray that you will gain strength and a sense of peace in knowing that he is in a beautiful place.
