   Laura Mae (Mrs. Marvin) Schoaf, age 81 of Faribault, died on Friday, September 11, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester.
   Memorial services will be held at First English Lutheran Church, Faribault on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend David Hurtt officiating. Interment will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.
   Memorial visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, September 13 from 2 to 6 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service Monday.
Laura Mae Grace Balfe, the daughter of John F. and Gertrude (Larsen) Balfe, was born March 7, 1928 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Marvin Schoaf on August 28, 1946 at LeSueur River Lutheran Church in New Richland. Laura was a homemaker for most of her life and worked for a short time at Sheldahl in Northfield.
   She is survived by her husband, Marvin; seven children, Nancy (and Lynn) Lorenzen of Charles City, IA, Marjean Schultz of LaCrosse, WI, Colleen Walburn of Faribault, Lona (and John) Godovik of LaCrosse, WI, Mark (and Sandy) Schoaf of St. Joseph, MO, Shelly (and Bernie) Malecha of Owatonna and Kevin Schoaf of Apple Valley; one sister, Leila Duchene of Longview, CA; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lawrence, John, Woodrow and Donald Balfe; and three sisters, Avis Lok, Adeline Hanscom and Evelyn O’Connor.

Memories

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Laura Mae's passing. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She was always so good to me. To Uncle Marvin and all of you children and grandchildren and greatgrand children. What a tribute in itself. Your Mom was the sweetest person I know. I have missed my mother,(Avis) and I know you will all miss your mother too. Just remember all the good times. I lost my brother (Jerry) to cancer in March and I still am having a hard time. I just try to think about the fun times we had. Even when he was sick he made me laugh. Love to all of you and I have many, many memories of Aunt Laura and always loved her dearly. Miles can't take that away. I just got home from Reno on Sunday and Monday Blaine called and told me she had passed. On Sat. my grandaughter and I were at Blaine's and he was talking about your Mom, they are the same age. He was talking about how beautiful she was. She was beautiful inside and out. Marvin & family, especially Colleen, I just wanted to send my sympathies and prayers for you as you mourn the loss of your dear Wife and mom. I know it has been a long time since I saw Laura, but want you to know how very much I thought of her. I don't think I ever saw her without her big smile and her loving ways. She was such a dear lady. Laura welcomed my mom, Marilyn, into her life with open arms and mom loved her so very much. I will never think of Woody without the good memories of you all and how very special you were in his and mom's life, and also how very special she was in my life.
