    Waldemar “Wally” B. Schmidtke, age 94, of Morristown, died on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Keystone Communities of Faribault.
    Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown, on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Gregg Pavelski officiating. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.
    Visitation will be at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Sunday, September 27th from 3 to 6 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Monday.
    Wally was born on June 4, 1915 in Morristown to Wilhelm and Ella (Reischke) Schmidtke. He married Verna Peterson on December 3, 1940 and she preceded him in death on November 18, 1978. Later he married Augusta Geisler Meschke on December 10, 1983 and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2001. Wally farmed in the Morristown area and did custom corn shelling and hay baling. Later in life he also bought and sold used farm trucks.
    He is survived by two children, Karen (and Alver) Bratsch of Bloomington and Kenard (and Jean) Schmidtke of Morristown; three step children, Myrna (and Dean) Melby of Ellsworth, WI, Raymond (and LaVonne) Meschke of New Richmond, WI and Robert (and Joy) Meschke of Morristown; four grandchildren, Mark Bratsch, Suzanne (and Tim) Schmidt, Tony (and Bobbi) Schmidtke, and Peggy (and Pete) Snustad; five great grandchildren, Corri, Ryan and Nathan Schmidtke and Ila Rose and Ike Snustad; two sisters, Linda Hannon of Long Beach, CA and Marie Hantleman of Faribault and one brother, Wilmer (and Virginia) Schmidtke of Morristown; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verna, his wife, Augusta and a sister, Irma Schmidtke.

Memories

From Bob and Alice Smith: To all of Wally's family members and friends ~ May God's infinate love be very real to you, especially now. Wally was a faithful Christian man. He had many friends because he had a pleasant personality. My memories of Wally go back many years to the times when he used to come to my parent's farm to shell corn. He liked to share stories and recount memories with my dad. Later, he became my uncle when he married my mother's sister, Aunt Gustie Meschke. That resulted in many years of blessed friendship, family gatherings and many laughter-filled visits for those two couples. Wally's mother was my mother's godmother, which meant that my grandparents must have been friends with his parents, as well. In closing, I would like to share a special verse I found to be comforting........When someone we love dies, God wraps us in a tender embrace while we mourn. In time, we emerge a new being, comforted by God's mercy and restored by His love.....May God's love and mercy comfort you at this time. Sincerely, Alice Smith
