Robert Lee Nethery, age 75,
died at his home in Old Town, FL, on February 24, 2009.
A memorial service will be
held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at
2:30 p.m. with the Reverend Craig Breimhorst, officiating.
Visitation will be at the
funeral home for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Robert was born October 13,
1933, in the hills of Kentucky, to Mary Ellen (Whitehouse) & Athael
Nethery. He came to Kenyon, MN with his mother in 1944 when she married
Albert Thorson. Robert graduated from Kenyon High School in 1953. He
loved his many Kenyon friends and felt they were the foundation of his
life. Bob served with law enforcement in the State of Kentucky and in the
U.S. Armed Forces. In 1961 he married Audrey Heskett. Robert was a free
spirit who considered the world his home. He taught water skiing in
Florida, started “A Sign Company” in New Jersey and sailed the
Caribbean. Bonaire became his homeport and from there he went to
Venezuela and discovered hang gliding. A hang gliding accident slowed
down the travels and brought him back to the States. He spent summers on
his stepdaughter’s farm in Prior Lake and the North woods of Minnesota,
always going south for the winter.
He is survived by his
stepdaughter, Jeannie Heskett (Scott) Tuthill and her mother Audrey Tebo;
his sister Nita Illsley and her son Jordan, brothers, Charlie (Charlotte)
Thorson and his son Nicholas, Bill (Nancy) Thorson, and his daughter
Kimberly and sons Daniel and Timothy; his nephew Jeff (Beth) Nethery and
son Jake; Kentucky cousins, David Whitehouse, Jimmy Simpson and Curtis
Whitehouse and special friends Don and Marge Finnesgard as well as other
friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by
his mother, Mary Thorson; stepfather, Albert Thorson; father, Athael
Nethery; brother, Houston and sister, Lou Ann Nethery.

I hope he finally rest in peace, and the way he treated my mom was settled in his mind before he left earth. I wonder why my mother was ignored completely in this obituary. Maybe because of the survivors didn't want any potential litigation. Also, For a man that was never married to his dear stepdaughter's mom, it is kind of weird that he was in fact married to my mom, and again, she is not mentioned here at all. I still remember when he stayed in my house in Venezuela for more than six months.... probably couple of years combined.
