Walter W. Koopmans, age 83, of Faribault, died on
Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Sun City, Arizona.
Memorial
services will be held at St. Luke’s Church, Faribault, on Saturday, May
16, 2009 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Aaron Brockmeier officiating.
Interment will be at Cannon City Cemetery with veterans military rites
provided by Central Veterans Association.
Memorial
visitation will be at church for one half hour prior to the service on
Saturday.
Arrangements are being completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault.
Walter
William, the son of William and Lydia (Koelle) Koopmans, was born
January 10, 1926 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School
in 1944 and served in the U.S. Army for 8 years during WWII and the
Korean Conflict. He married Mary M. Hawkins on September 6, 1946 in St.
Paul. Walter owned and operated Koopmans Ready Mix for 26 years. He
was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 9 A.F. & A.M., Faribault, and the
Osman Shrine, St. Paul, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1460, Elks
Lodge #116 and American Legion Post 43, all of Faribault.
He is
survived by his wife, Mary of Faribault; four children, Patricia
Koopmans, St. Paul, Deborah (and Vallard) May of Moose Lake, Kenneth
(and Susan) Koopmans of Columbia, MO and Jane (and Jerry) Kerby of
Comanche, TX; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister,
Amy (and Bob) Christoferson of Jefferson City, MO; and one brother,
Roger (and Kathleen) Koopmans of Faribault.
He was
preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Kristina May and
two sisters, Dorothy Mistretta and Elaine Koopmans.
