Bernis Percil Elverum, age
94, of Faribault, went to see Jesus on Monday, June 22, 2009 at St. Lucas
Care Center, Faribault.
Funeral services will be
held at Bethel Ridge Lutheran Church, Faribault, on Thursday, June 25,
2009 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend Ronald Wik officiating. Interment
will be at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at
the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault, on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from 4 to 7
p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Bernis Percil, the daughter
of Bernt and Petra (Nestrud) Elverum, was born January 23, 1915 in Denzil,
Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved with her parents to Lakefield, MN in 1920
and returned to Denzil, Sask., Canada in 1929. In 1938, she graduated from
Prairie Bible Institute of Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She returned to
Lakefield in 1939. She spent 15 years in missionary work in Mille Lacs
Lake and White Earth. She had the privilege of rearing two Native
American children during that time. In 1964 she took nurse’s training at
Thief River Falls and spent 20 years in hospital work, 17 years of that
time was at the Faribault Regional Center. She retired in 1984.
She is survived by one
daughter, Bonnie Shingobe–Neeland of Onamia; 8 grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren; 1 great, great grandchild; two nieces, Jan (and Paul)
Hermanson of Faribault and Jean (and Chris) Hatton of Waco, TX; one
nephew, John (and Marie) Elverum of Woodbury; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; one son, Dennis Hill; her brother, Milford (and Marie)
Elverum; her sister, Mildred (and Palmer) Paulson; and her good friend and
former partner in mission work, Alice (Shields) Ingalls of Bagley.

Bernis will be sadly missed from friends and family. and everyone from church. Etc Etc.. she was a very sweet lady and will be missed very much. We will miss her smiles and laughter and her happy face. thank you.
