Richard Edward, the son of
Edward and Alexandra (Lourronen) Dunlap, was born December 13, 1916 in
International Falls, MN. He was a veteran of WWII. He enlisted in the
Army in September of 1942. In the Signal Corp, he served in the European
Theater. He was discharged in November of 1945. He went back to work at
Electric Machinery Mfg. Co. On April 22, 1961, he married Lillian
Belverud. In 1964, as a Field Service Engineer, he traveled to many
foreign countries and a majority of states. A job in Manila, Philippines
took him around the world. He retired from this Company in 1979. As a
private pilot with instrument rating, his greatest joy was flying
cross-country to some place of interest, which was most of North America.
On a vacation with Lil, he traveled around the earth again, cruised on the
Nile and walked on the Great Wall. A citizen of the greatest generation,
he loved his God, country and his work. He always had a book near by,
liked photography and gardening. They moved to Faribault in 1994 and
spent winter months in Donna, TX.
He is survived by his wife,
Lillian, of Faribault; two brothers-in-law, Harold (and Florence) Belverud
of West Concord, Lloyd Belverud of Kenyon, and a nephew, Ron (and Julie)
Watermolen of FL.
He was preceded in death by
his parents and a sister, Myrna Dunlap.
